Michael D'Cruze - Artistic Director Michael trained for three years at the Guildford School of Acting in 1984-1987 receiving a National Diploma in Musical Theatre and winning Student of the Year in 1986. His acting career spans 22 years with roles as diverse as Malvolio (Twelfth Night), Caiaphas (British Tour, Jesus Christ Superstar), David (Poor Super Man by Brad Fraser), Tony (I Know What You Want) (Komedia / Incisor UK Tour & Edinburgh Festival) and 7 Roles in The Tinderbox (Gardner Arts Brighton). Michael's work has taken him to the Edinburgh Festival, Circa theatre in Wellington, New Zealand, Paris, Los Angeles, Dubai, Spain, Germany, Norway and Switzerland to name the memorable as well as several British tours.
Judy Barrington-Smuts - Guest Teacher Judy has been acting and performing since primary school. At the age of 16 she was accepted into the Bristol Old Vic Youth Theatre, where she appeared not only in established pieces (Two Planks and a Passion, A Menagerie of Minghella and The Last Days of Don Juan) but also in new writing Starry Eyes, commissioned by the theatre. Judy also had the opportunity to be personally tutored by industry professionals such as Jane Lapotaire.
Her recent credits include a UK tour (including The National Theatre & The Spiegel Tent, Dublin) of Shall We Dance? Make Do and Mend, and Tea Dances with Ragroof Theatre and the feature film Carmen’s Kiss. Josephine Supreme; self-written super tease monologue for Boutique Theatre, La Dame Reveals Tout.. Josephine Supreme also appeared at Lazy Gramophone (London Bridge and Hoxton) and the Charm Offensive fundraising night (Soho). Her appearances for Wimbledon College of Art include Mommy Dearest and Orisons directed by Jane Collins, Ophelia Soiled and Elsinore Hotel directed by David Gale. Foul, Strange, Unnatural and Colour of Loneliness directed by Titania Krimpas. Judy’s devised and performance in ‘Amado Mio’, for Boutique Theatre launched at the Brighton Festival in 2007 and at non-theatre venues around Brighton.
Judy has traveled the world and spent time teaching and performing in Portugal. She gained a 1st Class Hons Degree in Theatre Arts in 2006 specialising in physical theatre and now teaches degree students mainly at Northbrook College whose Foundation Degree programmes are designed to offer students a professional training underpinned by academic study.
Lucinda Cowden - Guest Teacher Lucinda made her theatrical debut at 15 in ‘Cains Hand' at the Bellevoir St Theatre in Sydney and then went on to train at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia. She played various parts in theatre and television in Australia before landing the role of ‘Melanie' (the one with the funny laugh) in ‘Neighbours'. After 3 successful years with the show she moved to England. Since living here she has presented ‘Parallel 9' and ‘Highly Sprung' for the BBC, ‘Soap Fever' for Granada, played ‘Marion' in ‘The Basil Brush Show', ‘Claire O'Grady' in ‘Doctors' and currently voices ‘Mitzy', ‘Alice' and ‘Lolly' in ‘The Koala Brothers' for the BBC.
She has also been a regular guest with the Comedy Store Players and written and performed her own one woman show ‘Bland Ambition' at the Edinburgh Festival. Her recent theatrical credits include ‘Hedda Gabler' at the Bucharest International Festival, Romania, ‘Don Quixote', ‘The John Wayne Principal' and ‘Dead White Males', at the Nuffield, Southampton, ‘Mr Meloncholy', ‘Wolf Lullabye', ‘Petunia Takes Tea' and ‘Half a Life' for Blue Tongue Theatre Company, ‘Viola' in ‘Twelfth Night', ‘Cecily' in ‘The Importance of Being Earnest' and ‘Mrs Bradman' in ‘Blythe Spirit' for Incisor Theatre company. Recent radio credits include ‘Consuming Desires', ‘The Pet' and ‘Our Father Who Art In A Tree', all for Women's Hour, Radio 4 and ‘Women May Weep' and ‘Kangaroo' for Radio 3.
